Opening my box, I thought surely more than a couple items would be passed on to my daughters or friends. I am pretty particular about colors and my skin is very much on the mature side of life. Here are my surprises: at first glance I was not going to keep julep crème powder shadows. I swatched one and said ok the putty might be ok, then I swatched the orchid shimmer and was sure I would give to one of my daughters… I don’t wear purple and I avoid shimmer. This morning I decided to throw caution to the wind and tried them both on my lids. Turns out, inexplicably, they both work well. This is the only purple family hue that has EVER worked to my satisfaction. It doesn’t look garish or like a black eye, it’s easy to apply and blends beautifully.
Overtone Ginger: this again felt like a gamble. I am not a professional or even experienced colorist. I have never dyed my hair at home. I leave keeping my natural red hair bright to my hair dresser (at 50 the white hairs make my red more strawberry and I want to keep the flame alive). I like the results of overtone between colorings. I applied around roots and gently blended down to ends. I have a lot of hair so it takes time. The good news is it’s close enough to my natural color to blend if I miss a spot or two. Gloves are a must.
Kneed Weis Flush and glow: the colors are pretty but I am not using for blush, I am using for eye shadow. I like the palette.
Boom! Broomstick in natural rose: first impression before trying was “meh, who cares?” But I love this blush, it leaves a sheen without glitter that makes me look dewy and dare I say it? Somewhat youthful. Perfect natural shade.
Underarm wash: who knew? My armpits feel decidedly cleaner.
Glycolic pads: refreshing without being too drying. Another surprise, I usually avoid these types of products because they strip my skin and leave me dehydrated1 these pads do not, refreshing for summers in Los Angeles.
I haven’t tried the other items but they all look useful. The sample sizes I am saving for my trip to Denmark, they are perfect for travel.
